Ongoing out-patient treatment is provided as close to the patient’s home as possible and the Network provides a range of services, not just at the two surgical centres (Manchester & Liverpool), but also at Preston, Glan Clwyd, Wrexham and Bangor Hospitals where local clinicians work closely with specialist staff from the centres. Under 8 clinic
Your baby’s first appointment will with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at this clinic you will meet your surgeon, a speech therapist, an audiologist, the dental therapist and the clinical nurse specialist. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions. You may be asked to attend a pre-op assessment following your clinic appointment.
Following your baby’s surgery you will be invited back to clinic for a post-op review.
18 month clinic
Eighteen months is an important milestone in your baby’s development and their progress needs to be assessed. Your appointment will be with the MDT and in attendance at this clinic is your surgeon, clinical nurse specialist, and a speech and language specialist. You may also meet with a paediatric dentist.
Age 3 clinic assessment
We will review your child at 3 years. This will be with the surgeon, clinical nurse specialist, a speech and language specialist and paediatric dentist.
Audit clinics
Your child may be invited to attend these clinics at the age of 5, 10 and 15 years to ensure that the care your child is receiving is of the highest possible standard.
Additional clinics will be offered with just one of the team if necessary, for example the speech and language specialist, a clinical psychologist or the orthodontist.
